INTERNSHIP GUIDELINES GENERAL PRINCIPLES

ARTICLE 1: Purpose

The internship activities aim to consolidate the knowledge and skills that students have acquired in theoretical and practical courses by applying them in real design, production, management, and implementation processes, and to guide their education through the unique situations that arise in these processes. Within this scope, it is aimed that students get to know the fields of Visual Communication Design and Radio, Television, and Cinema, gain design and application practice, understand the legal and theoretical dimensions, and gain experience in the subjects they want to specialize in.

ARTICLE 2: Areas for Internships

Internships can be conducted in the following areas, both within and outside the institution:

  • Advertising agencies
  • Graphic design agencies
  • Production companies
  • Media organizations
  • Radio and television channels
  • Other firms, institutions, or organizations that include these topics
  • Other areas approved by the Internship Commission and the department: Workshops or other professional activities organized by various institutions, Hasan Kalyoncu University, and the Faculty of Communication.

ARTICLE 3: Types, Scope, and Duration of Internships

Students are required to complete two types of internships (Internship I and Internship II), one within the institution and one outside the institution. The total duration of the internships is 48 working days. Students are obligated to complete two internships, each lasting 24 working days, between the 3rd and 7th semesters.

ARTICLE 4: Periods for Internships and Special Situations

The external internship is to be conducted outside the education and examination periods, except for situations approved by the Faculty Board. The internal internship can be conducted either within or outside the education and examination periods. ARTICLE 5: Determination and Acceptance of Internship Places The places where department students can do their internships will be determined with the approval of the Department Head, based on the evaluations and examinations conducted by the Internship Commission. Students will handle the applications to the internship places and the acceptance by the firms themselves. The student submits the application made to the desired firm and the firm’s positive feedback to the Internship Commission. The Internship Commission may request detailed information and documents from the student about the proposed internship place or activity to conduct the necessary examination and evaluation. If the proposed internship place is found suitable after the examination and evaluation, the student will be allowed to conduct the internship within the specified dates with the approval of the Department Head. Students whose internship places are not accepted must find a new internship place within 15 days and notify the Internship Commission. These forms will also be evaluated and announced by the Commission within 15 days.

ARTICLE 6: Submission Method and Time of Internship File

Internship files are received within the period announced by the Internship Commission. Files submitted outside the period are not evaluated unless there is a valid excuse. The “Internship Evaluation Form” must also be included in the Internship File. Students can access the internship files from the faculty website.

ARTICLE 7: Evaluation of the Internship

The student who completes the internship must submit the “Internship Evaluation Form” filled out and signed by the institution/manager where the internship was conducted, along with the internship file. This form includes an evaluation of the student’s work, attitude, and behavior during the internship. The student will give this form to the authorized person at the beginning of the internship. (The form should be received in a closed envelope.) Internship files will be evaluated by the Internship Commission. For the internship files to be evaluated, the internship place must have been accepted, the required documents and reports must be complete, and the specified periods must be adhered to. The student will complete any missing work found in the examined file following the Commission’s recommendations. The opinions of the authority of the place where the internship was conducted, as stated in the “Internship Evaluation Form,” will be taken into account.

ARTICLE 8: Internship Consultancy

The Internship Commission will hold a meeting in the Spring semester to provide information on the importance, purpose, conditions, and scope of the internship. Students can submit their questions regarding the internship in writing to the commission. Explanations related to relevant questions and issues will be announced on the internship announcement board by the Internship Commission.

ARTICLE 9: Obligation to Comply with the Work Rules of the Internship Place

The student doing the internship is obliged to comply with the conditions and rules of the workplace. If it is determined that the student does not act in accordance with these rules stated in the Internship Guidelines, the internship will not be accepted. The student is considered to have committed to complying with the rules of the chosen internship area. Internship File During the internship, daily and weekly work will be written in the Internship File, and the relevant file will be approved by the Internship Advisor at the end of the internship. A general description, purpose, and content of the work, the people and institutions organizing the work, the participating group and/or individuals, and the types and qualities of the subjects handled will be specified. Students should also add written and visual examples of the work they performed during the internship to the internship file. Students should attach their passport photos to the “Photo” section on the first page of the internship files.

ENFORCEMENT ARTICLE 10: Enforcement
